In Sonny's experience, nothing in Courchevel is free, so the useful question is who checks the bills. Checking every provider's invoice is a large part of his work: on one stay, a chef team's grocery charges turned out to be a mistake on their side and were corrected before the guest saw them. In the busiest weeks, Christmas, New Year, February and the UK half-term, prices climb so far that the same budget buys the weakest end of a village. Going down a level of the resort usually buys a better chalet for the same money, so look at Courchevel Moriond, Courchevel Village and Le Praz before you stretch the budget.

The chalet is only the starting point
A family can agree on a chalet price and still be far from the final budget. The costs that arrive later are often the practical ones: getting to the resort, skiing each day, eating well and arranging the services that make the week work.
Before confirming a booking, ask for a complete breakdown. Start with the chalet rate. Then separate what is included, what is not included, the concierge services that can be added and the personal expenses that remain with the family.
Four costs families often underestimate
airport transfers
Lyon and Geneva are the main arrival points, with Grenoble and Chambéry as alternatives. Reliable vehicles with the right authorisations should be booked early, especially during busy weeks.
ski passes
Lift passes are a significant part of a family budget. The right pass depends on the group's level, age and how much of the Three Valleys they plan to ski.
equipment
Many local providers offer fitting and delivery at the chalet. Ask whether the fitting, delivery, changes and direct shop collection are priced separately.
Food and services
Restaurant meals, groceries, chef services and activities can add up quickly. Groceries and ingredients are not listed as included on the property file. Ask Sonny to confirm the food-cost arrangement for the property.
Ask for the final number before you arrive
A useful quote should show the chalet, the inclusions, the exclusions and every optional service. Check whether restaurant reservations are part of the concierge service. Check the cost of ski fitting at the chalet compared with going to a shop. Ask about grocery handling, transfers and any additional staff needed for a large group.
Courchevel is expensive because the service network is in demand. That is not a reason to avoid the resort. It is a reason to plan honestly, compare local providers and make decisions with the full figure in front of you.
