What ski-in ski-out really means in Courchevel
In Courchevel, ski-in ski-out is one of the most overused phrases in property listings. The genuine article means you clip your boots on at the chalet door and ski directly onto a marked piste, not a 5-minute walk to a drag lift, not a blue run accessible only in good snow conditions.
What access is measured on
Two things, kept apart. The first is a number: where the catalogue records it, each property carries the distance from its door to the nearest piste, in metres. It is checkable, and it is also where that knowledge stops: a distance says nothing about how the last stretch skis in April. The second is a field check of both legs, departure and return, recorded with its date. Nobody here has skied to every door in the catalogue, so most properties carry no check yet, and we say so.
La Tania
La Tania was developed as a purpose-built ski resort, its original centre organised around large apartment residences. Courchevel describes the resort itself as ski-in/ski-out, and that is a description of the village: it is not the same thing as a verified door-to-piste access on a given address, which is what the two measures above record property by property.
