One of Moriond's practical advantages, in Sonny's experience, is that a family staying around the centre can often manage comfortably without a private chauffeur. Restaurants, shops, bars and the snow front are concentrated in a relatively compact part of the village.

In Sonny's experience, moving between Moriond and central 1850 is less direct than from some of Courchevel's other villages, which is worth considering if guests plan to spend a lot of time in 1850.

I look at 1850 when the brief is centred on ultra-luxury accommodation, a very high budget, palace-style service or a very specific location or chalet requirement.
I look at Moriond more often for families who want a relaxed ski holiday and a more accessible accommodation budget while remaining inside Courchevel.

Moriond retains a more informal mix of residences, apartments, bars and village life, while Courchevel Village has seen a stronger development of individual high-end chalets and staffed chalet accommodation.
For a relaxed family stay centred on Moriond's own ski area and village life, Sonny often looks at Moriond. For guests who want more of a private-chalet experience while staying below 1850, Village can answer a different brief.

Courchevel's free shuttle network also connects Moriond with the other villages, which gives guests another option when they do not have a chauffeur. The resort describes it as a free bus service serving all the villages of Courchevel, in winter and in summer. Courchevel's tourist office describes Moriond as perched on a large naturally sunny balcony. Funky Fox, on Rue Sainte-Blandine, is one of Moriond's established informal bars, with live music, sport and a pub-style atmosphere. A Carrefour Montagne at L'Ourse Bleue provides a practical grocery option in Moriond.

Sonny's local take
Moriond is the part of Courchevel I look at most often when a family wants to control the accommodation budget without giving up the Courchevel ski area. The difference in price compared with 1850 can be substantial, especially for apartments.
The atmosphere is also different. Moriond feels more relaxed and less formal than 1850. There is a strong family side to it, with apartments and residences around the centre, restaurants, shops and bars close to the snow front.
For skiing, I particularly like Moriond for families, children and less experienced skiers. The area gets a lot of sun and, in my experience, the skiing feels very enjoyable and approachable. The exact property still matters because convenient piste access and genuine ski-in/ski-out are not the same thing.
I would generally look at 1850 for a guest with a very high budget, a very specific luxury brief or particularly demanding service expectations. Moriond is more often where I look for a relaxed family ski holiday, where spending time together and getting good value from the accommodation matter more than having the most prestigious address.
